What are the different specialisms offered by Swisstranslate?
At Swisstranslate, we offer several types of translation to meet your needs. General translation, technical translation, medical, legal, financial, cosmetics, education, automotive, food, healthcare luxury, IT, technical engineering translations. There’s a translation service for every domain.
What languages can you translate documents into?
Swisstranslate offers translations in many languages: French, English, Latvian, Lithuanian, Kazakh, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Turkish, Thai, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Romanian… You can find the full list on our website and don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
How do I choose the right language combination for my translation?
There are many factors to take into account when choosing the right language combination for a translation: your target audience, the subject of your document, the budget available, your communication objectives and so on. For example, to target the Swiss market, it is important to use French for French-speaking Switzerland, German for German-speaking Switzerland and Italian for Ticino. Depending on your project, English is spoken by all nationals, given the number of foreign expatriates in Switzerland.
Language services
Do you offer interpreting services in addition to translation?
Of course! Swisstranslate is a language agency that also offers interpreting services (consecutive, simultaneous, relay, whispered, telephone interpreting, etc.). It’s up to you to choose the service that best suits your requirements. More and more online interpreting is being requested via platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
We also offer a wide range of services including copywriting, transcreation, graphic design, audio-video and more.
How does the translation process work at Swisstranslate?
We have put in place a rigorous translation process to ensure that each project benefits from the same level of quality:
- Project approval
- The project manager selects the translator best suited to your requirements
- Sending documents (website, old projects, reference documents, glossaries)
- Project follow-up
- Translation quality control
- Customer delivery
- Post-delivery availability (for any questions or requests)
We assess your needs, understand your environment and then work with you to create the perfect solution. Our language teams then take charge of your translation and, after a quality check and proofreading (if the option is chosen), we deliver your document to you on time. What’s more, we provide a post-delivery service for each service, so that you can make any corrections or changes you require. Your satisfaction is our long-term priority. You will become the best ambassadors for Swisstranslate.
Can you translate technical, medical or legal documents?
Our teams of over 3,000 translators master over 100 languages in a wide range of sectors, including technical, medical and legal. We have a wide and varied remit, so don’t hesitate to ask us for advice.
Can you translate official documents such as birth certificates or contracts?
Swisstranslate is a certified translation agency: this means that we are able to translate official documents (birth certificates, notarial deeds, passports, identity cards and diplomas, etc.) thanks to our certified translators who have been sworn in by a Court of Appeal.
At Swisstranslate, your project is always translated by native speakers of your target language.
Professional translation deadlines
Can I request an urgent translation?
Yes! At Swisstranslate, your satisfaction is our golden rule, which is why we offer three delivery options: express (within two working days), urgent (from four working days) and standard (within seven working days). Simply let us know when you request a quote, and our team will take your requirements into account.
This may vary depending on the time of your request. That’s why we advise you to contact the agency directly by telephone for any urgent or express requests.
We also offer a wide range of services including copywriting, transcreation, graphic design, audio-video and more.
How long does it take to receive my translation?
If you have not requested the urgent or express option, then your translation is considered “standard” and will be delivered to you, on average, within seven working days. However, this depends on the type of document, its length, its complexity, the language combination chosen, etc. The deadline can therefore be shorter or longer depending on the project. But there are no nasty surprises to worry about: we stick to the delivery date agreed together at the start of your project.
Translation rates
How are translation rates calculated?
Translation rates are calculated according to the options you require: source language, target language, difficulty of your project, length of your document, desired delivery time, etc.
Are there any additional charges depending on the complexity of the document?
Depending on the complexity of your project (types of languages, desired delivery times, certifications, etc), certain additional costs may apply. However, we want to be transparent: if your translation is less than two pages long, the price will be displayed directly when you request a quote. If it is more than two pages long, our team will create a customised version for you in less than 30 minutes.
What methods of payment are accepted?
Several methods of payment are accepted: Twint, PayPal, bank transfer, payment by card directly on the website, in a branch or electronic payment by BVR (payment slip with reference number).
